Non-Classical Gung Fu
Jesse Glover’s process-based approach to developing practical martial skill.
Non-Classical Gung Fu was developed by Jesse Glover based on his 50+ years of experience, experimentation, and continuous evolution. At its core, NCGF is a process. Over time, Jesse developed various training processes applicable to the average person; processes that cultivate power, speed, timing and sensing, among many other attributes. These training methods are highly innovative, unique and extremely effective while remaining relatively simple. Each student in NCGF evolves his or her own “mini-system” as each student conceptualizes the ideas and training processes to make them their own.
In essence, NCGF gives each person a foundation to work with; one that allows them to progress at their own pace, based on skill level, motivation and/or physical abilities. How far each student wants to take their skills is largely based on effort. What results from the training is an incredibly diverse physical exploration in martial arts.

On Jesse Glover

Jesse Glover (1935–2012) was Bruce Lee’s first student and his first assistant instructor. An accomplished judo competitor in Seattle, he met Bruce Lee at Edison Technical School and trained with him from 1959 to 1962 — mostly one-on-one, during the period when Lee, freshly arrived from his Wing Chun training under Grand Master Yip Man, was testing and adapting his skills against fighters of every kind. That experience gave Jesse a rare window into the core principles behind Lee’s development as a martial artist.
Jesse took those core ideas and evolved them into his own method, Non-Classical Gung Fu — a system he never stopped developing. He taught privately in Seattle and gave seminars across the United States and abroad until his passing on June 27, 2012, authoring several books on martial arts along the way. His five decades of instruction and innovation shaped countless martial artists, and he remains a great inspiration to the lives he touched.
